0% Down, 100% Screwed
Running to July 30th, 2009
The Second City
The Second City's latest revue; 0% Down, 100% Screwed opens it's doors to Rave Reviews!

It's a financial apocalypse! Or is it? There's a hip, young president in the White House but the state of world affairs ain't looking too hot at the moment.

0% Down, 100% Screwed takes its cue from the global financial crisis, looking at how events from all around the world affect Canadian political, professional and personal lives -- from Parliament Hill to your living room. If the USA gets to have audacious hope, what do we get? Returning to the stage for 0% Down, 100% Screwed are Marty Adams, Kerry Griffin, Darryl Hinds, Reid Janisse and Leslie Seiler, joined by exciting newcomer Caitlin Howden (of the Montreal sketch/improv troupe Uncalled For)

Surreal Things
Running to August 30, 2009
Surrealism emerged in reaction to the Dada movement so prevalent in 1920's Europe. This relationship has been heavily explored, however the influence of surrealism on various subsequent areas of design (including theatre, fashion, film, architecture and advertising) is only now being examined in an exhibition organized by the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

Hundreds of post-1930's works by artists and designers have been divided amongst five themes: Surrealism and the Object, Protest: The Ballet, The Illusory Interior, Displaying the Body and Nature Made Strange. Complimenting the discussion of surrealist influence in the 20th century is an outline of major events in the surrealist movement and a collection of post-movement works created by surrealist artists and designers. Salvador Dali, Giorgio de Chirico, Marcel Duchamp, Max Ernst, Rene Magritte, Joan Miro, Meret Oppenheim, Man Ray and Elsa Schiaparelli are a few of the artists whose works populate the exhibit.

25 Things You Must Do
While in Toronto
You can't walk two blocks in the city without seeing a double-decker tour bus or a billboard advertising a King Street musical. Hotel lobbies are filled with pamphlets for obvious attractions like Toronto Maple Leafs games or the Royal Ontario Museum -- and the CN Tower is pretty hard to miss -- but what if you want to see more than just the postcard-worthy parts of the city?

For the real Toronto experience, take some pointers from someone who knows it inside and out. Toronto-loving editor Stacey McLeod picks the 25 things you've got to do before you head back home.

Located in the Beaches area, this restaurant cum bakery not only makes its own bread and desserts daily, but the food offered is also fresh and first-class. As one would expect, a touch of sauvignon is the ongoing theme in this kitchen. There's a pleasant pan-Mediterranean flavour to the cuisine. Dishes include linguini in sauvignon blanc sauce, goat cheese with pear poached in sauvignon, and pork loin in balsamic fig sauce.
